Conference Best Paper Award
- Description: To recognize the most outstanding paper in the Proceedings of IROS 2009.
- Prize: $2,000 and Certificate (prepared by the Organization Committee)
- Funding: provided by RSJ (Robotics Society of Japan) and SICE (Society of Instrument and Control Engineers)
- Eligibility: Authors of papers published in the Proceedings and presented at IROS 2009.
- Procedures
- Nomination: by the Organization Committee with the following rules: papers must have been nominated at least twice by the reviewers or papers that have a ranking of at least 4.5 twice with other ranking never lower than 4
- Award Committee (AC): independent of the Organization Committee. A General Chair will be member of the Award Committee as an observer without vote right, in order to provide a logistic help to the AC
- Chair of the Award Committee: Hong Zhang, University of Alberta, Canada.
- Selection criteria: Technical merit, originality, potential of application, clarity of written paper. The composition of the Award Committee and Decision Rules are available.
- Presentation: At IROS 2009 Awards Ceremony.
IROS Harashima Award
- Description: The IROS Harashima Award for innovative Technologies has been established by the IEEE RAS, IEEE IES, RSJ, and SICE. The Harashima Award recognize outstanding contributions of an individual of the IROS community who has pioneered activities in Robtics and Intelligent Systems.
- Prize: 2000$ and a plaque
- Funding: Funding provided by IEEE RAS, IEEE IES, RSJ, and SICE
- Eligibility: Authors of papers published in the Proceedings and presented at IROS 2009.
Conference Best Student Paper Award
- Description: To recognize the most outstanding paper authored primarily by a student at IROS 2009.
- Prize: $1,000 and Certificate
- Funding: Funded by
- Eligibility: Primary student author of paper published in Proceedings and presented at IROS 2009.
- Basis for Judging: Technical merit, originality, potential impact on field, clarity of written paper and quality of the oral presentation.
Conference Best Reviewer Award
- Description: To recognize the best reviewers of IROS 2009
- Prize: Certificate (prepared by the Organization Committee)
- Eligibility: reviewers of papers for IROS 2009
- Selection rules
- proposals submitted by 1) the members of the PC 2) the OC
- additional screening based on the length of the reviews
- verification of the reviews quality by the General Co-Chairs and Program Chair
- selection done by the OC
- approval of the OC selection by the PC
Conference Best Application Paper Award
- Description: To recognize the most outstanding application paper in the Proceedings of IROS 2008.
- Prize: $1,000 and Certificate (prepared by ICROS)
- Funding: Funding provided by ICROS (Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems; formerly known as ICASE)
- Eligibility: Authors of papers published in the Proceedings and presented at IROS 2009.
- Basis for Judging: Technical merit, originality, potential of application, clarity of written paper.
- Presentation: At IROS 2009 Awards Ceremony by representatives from ICROS
